Biography
Who is Helô Pinheiro?
Early life and name
The model was born as Heloísa Eneida Paes Pinto in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She grew up in the Ipanema neighborhood. As a teenager, she caught the attention of songwriters Antônio Carlos Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes while she walked toward the local beach. This specific walk became the foundational inspiration for the world-famous song The Girl from Ipanema.
Modeling and television career
Helô Pinheiro built a career as both a model and an entrepreneur. She appeared in Playboy magazine as a Playmate in 1987. She returned to the publication in 2003 for a special pictorial that featured her daughter, Ticiane Pinheiro.
Beyond print work, she appeared on international television programs. She was featured in the second season of the reality competition The Amazing Race, specifically during a clue challenge at the beach. Also, she made an appearance on cycle 12 of America's Next Top Model during a modeling challenge that took place in Brazil.
Legal trademark case
In 2001, Helô faced a legal challenge regarding the use of her nickname. The heirs of the original composers of the song sued her for using the title Garota de Ipanema as the name for her retail boutique.
The plaintiffs argued that being the inspiration for the song did not automatically grant her the right to use the title commercially. However, the court ruled in favor of Helô Pinheiro. Evidence presented included a press release from the original composers, Jobim and de Moraes, which confirmed they had intended to bestow that title upon her.
Birthday and age
Helô Pinheiro was born on July 7, 1943, which makes Helô 83 years old today. That birthday falls under the Cancer sign. Helô shares the date with 30 other famous people.
