Who is Jason Flemyng?
Early life and education
Jason Flemyng was born in Putney, London on September 25, 1966. His father was the Scottish director Gordon Flemyng. During his time at Christ's Hospital school in Sussex, he appeared in stage productions. This experience inspired his desire to pursue acting.
In the 1980s, he participated in the National Youth Theatre. He was also involved with the Young Socialists and the political group Militant. In 1987, he was expelled from the Labour Party for distributing a newspaper linked to the Militant group. Later, he claimed that his political involvement during that period was mainly a social activity to meet girls.
Acting career beginnings
His initial screen roles included a part in the 1991 ITV series Rich Tea and Sympathy and a guest role in The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles in 1992. Between 1993 and 1996, he was a regular cast member in the ITV drama Doctor Finlay.
His first film role was in a 1994 production of The Jungle Book. In 1996, he played a main character in the drama Hollow Reed. That same year, he won the Best Actor Award at the Geneva Film Festival for his performance in Alive and Kicking.

Jason Flemyng has appeared in several high-profile Hollywood films. These include the 1995 production Rob Roy and the 2008 film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. He acted in two comic book adaptations directed by Stephen Norrington and others, specifically From Hell in 2001 and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen in 2003.
He played the role of Dimitry in the 2005 film Transporter 2. In 2009, he joined the cast of the ITV science fiction series Primeval as Danny Quinn. He reprised this character in 2011. He has also appeared in Matthew Vaughn projects such as Kick-Ass and X-Men: First Class.
Family and personal life
Jason Flemyng was in a relationship with actress Lena Headey for nine years until 2001. He married Elly Fairman in the summer of 2008 in Tuscany, Italy. They have two children together, twin boys named Noah and Cassius who were born in 2012. The boys appeared as Sam and Eric in a 2026 BBC adaptation of Lord of the Flies.
Jason enjoys running long distances and has participated in multiple marathons. He is also a fan of the football club Chelsea F.C. In 2020, he mentioned that his family had all recovered from COVID-19.
