Early life and education
Jennifer Marie Morrison was born in Chicago, United States, and grew up in Arlington Heights, Illinois. She is the oldest of three children born to her parents. Her father worked as a music teacher and high school band director.
She attended South Middle School and graduated from Prospect High School in 1997. During high school, she played the clarinet in the marching band, sang in the choir, and participated as a cheerleader. She later attended Loyola University Chicago, majoring in theatre and minoring in English before graduating in 2000.
Career beginnings and film roles
Jennifer Morrison started her career as a child model, appearing in print advertisements and television commercials. She made her feature film debut at the age of 14 in the 1994 film Intersection. Her early acting credits include roles in Stir of Echoes, Urban Legends: Final Cut, Grind, Surviving Christmas, and Mr. And Mrs. Smith.
In addition to acting, she has worked behind the scenes. She was one of the early producers who helped bring Glee to the attention of writer Ryan Murphy, earning an associate producer credit for the first season.
Television success
Jennifer Morrison gained widespread recognition for her role as immunologist Dr. Allison Cameron in the medical drama series House from 2004 to 2012. Following her time on House, she joined the cast of the adventure fantasy series Once Upon a Time as Emma Swan, starring from 2011 to 2018.
Her extensive television resume also includes recurring roles on How I Met Your Mother and This Is Us. She expanded her career into directing, making her feature film directorial debut with Sun Dogs in 2017 under her own production company, Apartment 3C Productions.
