Who is Kenton Duty?
Early life and beginnings
Jeffrey Kenton Duty was born on May 12, 1995, in Plano, Texas. He grew up there with his parents and his two younger twin sisters, Jessica and Rebecca, who were born in 1999. Kenton began his formal acting training at the age of 9. His parents suggested he attend a musical theatre workshop to help him gain confidence for school presentations. It was during this summer program that he realized his passion for performing on stage.
Career in television and film
Kenton Duty moved toward professional auditions in Los Angeles after being spotted at a show in Dallas by agent Cindy Osbrink. He began his career with numerous national commercials for brands such as Pizza Hut, McDonald's, Mattel, and Wal-Mart. In 2007, he made multiple appearances in comedy sketches for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. That same year, he landed a featured role as Michael in the Lifetime movie Christmas in Paradise.
Shake It Up and later projects
In the fall of 2010, Kenton Duty joined the cast of the Disney Channel series Shake It Up. He played the recurring character Gunther Hessenheffer, an exchange student and dancer, alongside Caroline Sunshine who played his twin sister, Tinka. The duo was often compared to characters from the High School Musical franchise due to their flamboyant personalities. He remained on the series until 2012.
Personal interests and community work
Outside of acting, Kenton Duty has a variety of hobbies including cooking, baking, and horseback riding. He has kept a horse named Prince on his grandmother's property in Texas and previously owned a guinea pig named Peanut. He has also been vocal about his experiences with school bullying and has encouraged others to maintain confidence in difficult social situations.
Marriage and family
Kenton Duty married his longtime partner, filmmaker Mosley Agin, on July 1, 2019. The couple later confirmed that they held a private wedding ceremony on September 28, 2019, several months after their initial legal union.
