Who is Lauren Holly?
Early life and education
Lauren Michael Holly was born in Bristol, Pennsylvania. Her mother, Michael Ann Holly, worked as an art historian and academic program director. Her father, Grant Holly, taught literature and worked as a screenwriter. She has two younger brothers, Nick and Alexander.
She attended Geneva High School for her secondary education. Following high school, she enrolled at Sarah Lawrence College in New York to continue her studies.
Career beginnings
Lauren began acting at age 20 with appearances on the television show Hill Street Blues. She joined the cast of the soap opera All My Children as Julie Rand Chandler for three years. She also played the character Betty Cooper in the television movie Archie: To Riverdale and Back Again.
Her breakthrough occurred in 1992 when she became part of the Picket Fences cast as Deputy Sheriff Maxine Stewart. She stayed with the show for four seasons, appearing in nearly every episode.
Major film and television roles
She portrayed the wife of Bruce Lee in the 1993 film Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story. In 1994, she played Mary Swanson in the comedy Dumb and Dumber. Other film credits include Sabrina, Down Periscope, and Any Given Sunday. She later appeared in the music video for the song Goodbye Earl.
From 2005 to 2008, she acted as NCIS Director Jenny Shepard. She also played the medical examiner Dr. Betty Rogers on the television series Motive. In 2018, she joined the third season of Designated Survivor as Lynn Harper.
Family and relationships
Lauren Holly has been married three times. She married actor Danny Quinn in 1991, and they divorced in 1993. In 1996, she married actor Jim Carrey, but they separated and divorced the following year. Her third marriage was to investment banker Francis Greco in 2001. They divorced in 2014.
She became a Canadian citizen in 2008. She and her family established a college fund in honor of her brother Alexander, who passed away as a teenager.
