Childhood and musical beginnings
Megan Nicole Flores grew up in Katy, Texas, after being born in Houston. Her parents are Tammy and Frankie Flores, and she has a sister named Maddie Taylor. Her mother has German and Native American heritage, while her father is of Mexican American descent.
Her interest in music started around the time she turned ten years old. This happened after her father gave her a karaoke machine. During her school years, she gained experience by performing in her church's music programs. She participated in a church band while in high school and sang in the choir during her middle school years.
Rise to online fame
Megan Nicole began her digital career in 2009 by uploading a cover version of the Kings of Leon song Use Somebody to YouTube. This video served as her introduction to the platform. She continued posting covers of tracks by various artists, including Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, and Selena Gomez.
Her channel became a hub for musical collaborations. She worked alongside fellow online creators such as Tiffany Alvord, Tyler Ward, Madilyn Bailey, and Lindsey Stirling. By April 2014, reports noted that her channel had accumulated 1.5 million subscribers and 350 million total views.
Original music and acting work
The singer released her first original track, B-e-a-utiful, on July 15, 2011. She wrote the song with Lairs Johnston, Stephen Folden, and Tom Mgrdichian. The track gained significant traction online, reaching 27 million hits by November 2013. In August 2012, she signed a contract with Bad Boy Records. Shortly after, she appeared on the Billboard Social 50 chart at number 29.
Her debut album, titled Escape, arrived on October 14, 2014, as an independent release on Hume Records following her time with Bad Boy. This collection featured five original songs co-written by the artist and Mgrdichian. She also released the single Electrified earlier that year. Beyond music, she ventured into acting. She starred in the feature film Summer Forever alongside Anna Grace Barlow and Alyson Stoner, which became available on video on demand in 2015. Also, in 2017, she performed the song Get Your Cape On for the animated web series DC Super Hero Girls.
Marriage and personal life
Megan Nicole married Cooper Green in the summer of 2017. The couple became engaged in March of that year and held their wedding ceremony on July 1, 2017.
