Early life and background
Naomi Campbell Elaine Campbell was born on May 22, 1970, in Lambeth, United Kingdom. Her mother, Valerie Morris Campbell, worked as a modern dancer. She is of Afro-Jamaican and Chinese-Jamaican descent, with her Chinese heritage coming through her paternal grandmother.
From an early age, Naomi trained extensively in the arts. She attended the Barbara Speake Stage School starting at age three and later studied ballet at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts. She broke significant barriers by becoming the first black model to appear on the covers of British Vogue, French Vogue, and American Vogue's crucial September issue.

Beyond fashion, Naomi branched into other areas of entertainment.
