Early life and background
Nicholas Dimitri Constantine Galitzine was born on September 29, 1994, in Hammersmith, West London. Growing up, he attended Dulwich College where he actively played rugby, track, and football. He even played for the Harlequins Academy and aspired to pursue professional rugby before a series of injuries, including a rotator cuff injury, led him to stop playing.
His interest in performing began when he joined a youth theatre company called Pleasance Islington after his friends persuaded him to audition for a production of Spring Awakening. Deciding against pursuing a university education, he focused on acting professionally while supporting himself through various part-time jobs, including working at a frozen yogurt shop alongside future actress Simone Ashley.
Acting career beginnings
Nicholas Galitzine made his professional acting debut in the 2014 film The Beat Beneath My Feet, starring alongside Luke Perry as a lonely teenager with musical aspirations. Following this debut, he appeared in an episode of the television series Legends in 2015 and earned a spot as a Star of Tomorrow by Screen International in the same year.
In 2016, he starred in the American drama High Strung and played a closeted gay student in the Irish comedy-drama Handsome Devil. He continued taking on diverse television and film roles over the next few years, featuring in projects such as the Netflix horror drama series Chambers and the drama film Share in 2019.
Breakthrough and major roles
Nicholas achieved his major career breakthrough when he starred as Luke Morrow in the Netflix romantic drama film Purple Hearts in 2022, alongside Sofia Carson. To prepare for the role of a United States Marine, he went through basic Marine training. He also released his debut single titled Comfort in June of that same year.
Following his breakthrough, he starred as Prince Robert in the 2021 musical film Cinderella and took on prominent roles in major streaming hits. He portrayed Prince Henry in the romantic comedy Red, White & Royal Blue in 2023 and starred alongside Anne Hathaway as Hayes Campbell in the film adaptation of The Idea of You in 2024. In addition to acting, he has worked as a global menswear ambassador for Fendi and a fragrance ambassador for Emporio Armani.
