Early life and career beginnings
Rolene Strauss was born in Volksrust, South Africa, on April 22, 1992. Her mother Theresa worked as a nurse, and her father Hennie was a doctor. She was a test tube baby, a fact she often credits for her lifelong passion regarding health and medicine. During her youth, she pursued academic interests alongside her modeling career.
She began her path in pageantry at age 15. In 2007, she entered the Elite Model Look South Africa competition and won the title. This early success marked her first major achievement in the modeling industry. She later enrolled at the University of the Free State to pursue medical studies.
Pageantry and Miss World success
In 2011, she competed in the Miss South Africa pageant and finished in the top 5. She returned to the competition three years later representing Bloemfontein and earned the title of Miss South Africa 2014. As part of her duties, she was scheduled to represent her country at international events.
She traveled to London, United Kingdom, to participate in the Miss World 2014 contest. During the final interview round, she spoke about the importance of unity, respect, and forgiveness. The judges selected her as the winner, making her the third South African woman to hold the Miss World title. Because of this win, she was unable to compete in the Miss Universe 2014 pageant. Ziphozakhe Zokufa replaced her as the South African representative for that specific event.

Rolene Strauss is a devout Christian who balances her professional life with her personal commitments. She is currently the chairperson of The Strauss Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on charitable work. Her professional career encompasses both her background in medicine and her public profile as a former titleholder.
She became engaged to D'Niel Strauss in December 2014. The couple married on February 6, 2016, at the Laurent Wedding venue located in Somerset West. They welcomed their first son in January 2017. In February 2020, she gave birth to their second son. She continues to reside and work within South Africa.
