Who is Roselyn Sánchez?
Early life and career beginnings
Roselyn Milagros Sánchez Rodríguez was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, as the youngest of four children. She attended school in her home city and later enrolled at the University of Puerto Rico to study marketing, following in the footsteps of her father and brothers. After three years, she left her studies to pursue other interests. In 1991, at eighteen, she moved to New York City to take lessons in acting, singing, and dancing.
Upon returning to Puerto Rico, she made her film debut in 1992 with a small role as an island girl in Captain Ron. She eventually gained local fame as a dancer and co-host of a variety program called Qué Vacilón. Her profile grew significantly when she won the Miss Puerto Rico Petite competition in 1993, followed by the international title of Miss American Petite in 1994.
Film and television success
In 2001, Roselyn Sánchez achieved greater visibility when she played Isabella Molina, the love interest of Jackie Chan, in the hit film Rush Hour 2. Throughout the next decade, she appeared in various movies including Boat Trip, The Game Plan, Edison, and the Puerto Rican film Cayo. She also took on the role of Karen Lopez in Underclassman and appeared in The Perfect Sleep in 2009.
On television, she is well recognized for her portrayal of Agent Elena Delgado on the CBS police drama Without a Trace from 2005 to 2009. Later, she starred as Carmen Luna on the Lifetime series Devious Maids, which ran from 2013 to 2016. More recently, she played the title character, Elena Roarke, in the 2021 reboot of Fantasy Island.
Music and other ventures
Beyond acting, she has explored a career in music. Her debut album, Borinqueña, was released in 2003, and the single Amor Amor earned a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Music Video. She has also appeared in music videos for artists such as Craig David and Fabolous. Also, she wrote and starred in the 2007 musical film Yellow, which focuses on a performer leaving Puerto Rico for New York.

The couple has two children, a daughter and a son, both of whom were conceived through IVF. She has spoken publicly about her personal challenges involving endometriosis and infertility during her path to become a mother. She previously experienced a miscarriage while pregnant with her daughter's twin.
