Who is Ryan Reynolds?
Early life and education
Ryan Reynolds Rodney Reynolds was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, on October 23, 1976. His father, James Chester Reynolds, served as a Royal Canadian Mounted Policeman before working as a foods wholesaler, while his mother, Tamara Lee, worked in retail sales. He grew up with three older brothers in Vancouver and Ottawa, attending Prince of Wales Secondary School and later graduating from Kitsilano Secondary School in 1994.
As a teenager, Ryan took acting classes and worked part-time jobs as a busboy and a grocery store clerk. He briefly left acting at age nineteen to enroll at Kwantlen Polytechnic University before deciding to pursue his career again and move to Los Angeles.
Career beginnings
Ryan began his career in the Canadian teen soap opera Hillside, which aired from 1991 to 1993. He made his feature film debut in the drama Ordinary Magic in 1993 and later took on dual roles in the television series The Odyssey. During the 1990s, he also made guest appearances in shows such as The Outer Limits, The X-Files, and Sabrina the Teenage Witch.
His breakthrough television role came as medical student Michael Bergen in the sitcom Two Guys and a Girl, which ran from 1998 to 2001. Following this success, he starred in the romantic comedy National Lampoon's Van Wilder in 2002 and appeared in the action comedy The In-Laws in 2003.
Major film success
Ryan starred in several well-known films throughout the 2000s, including the vampire action film Blade: Trinity and the horror remake The Amityville Horror in 2005. He also appeared in commercially successful romantic comedies such as The Proposal and starred in superhero projects including X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Green Lantern.
He achieved his greatest commercial success by playing the titular character in the Deadpool franchise, starring in Deadpool, Deadpool 2, and Deadpool & Wolverine. In addition to live-action films, he has lent his voice to animated projects including Detective Pikachu and The Croods franchise.

In addition to acting, Ryan is a businessman who holds an ownership stake in Mint Mobile. He is also a co-owner of the Welsh soccer club Wrexham, which is documented in the television series Welcome to Wrexham.
Ryan was previously married to actress Scarlett Johansson and was in a relationship with Alanis Morissette. He married actress Blake Lively in 2012, and the couple shares four children named James, Inez, Betty, and Olin.
