Who is Shannon Tweed?
Early life and family
Shannon Lee Tweed was born in St. John's, Canada. She grew up on a mink ranch located in Whitbourne. Her father, Donald Keith Tweed, worked as a mink rancher. She is one of seven children in her family. Her sister, Tracy Tweed, is also an actress.
Following a car accident involving her father, the family relocated to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Her mother, Louise Tweed, pursued nursing studies while the family relied on welfare support. Shannon later attended Mount Royal Collegiate to complete her education.
Modeling and Playboy career
Shannon began her career in pageants. In 1978, she placed as the third runner-up during the Miss Canada Pageant. She also secured a victory in the Miss Canada talent competition by singing. Her path to national attention began when the television program Thrill of a Lifetime helped arrange a photoshoot for Playboy magazine.
This opportunity led to her selection as the Playmate of the Month for November 1981. Following that success, she was named Playmate of the Year for 1982. During this period, she lived at the Playboy Mansion for over a year as a partner to Hugh Hefner. She and her sister Tracy appeared together in a magazine spread.

Shannon started a relationship with musician Gene Simmons in 1983. The couple shares two children named Nick and Sophie. They eventually married during a ceremony held at the Beverly Hills Hotel in October 2011. Their family lively was documented for several years on the reality show Gene Simmons Family Jewels, which aired from 2006 until 2012.
The reality series captured various milestones, including the couple's wedding and a visit to Saskatoon where officials honored her with a street name. Today, she continues to work in entertainment, including narrating the show Ex-Wives of Rock.
