Early life and heritage
Taliana Maria Vargas Carrillo was born in Santa Marta, Colombia. She grew up in this coastal city and possesses a diverse ethnic background. Her heritage includes Greek, Lebanese, and Colombian roots, and she also has an Italian stepfather.

Taliana Vargas first gained national attention as a beauty pageant contestant. In November 2007, she earned the title of Miss Colombia. This victory was significant as it brought the first crown to her home department of Magdalena.
During the competition, judges recognized her with awards for Miss Elegance, Best Face, and The Queen of the Police. She subsequently represented her country at the Miss Universe 2008 pageant. She placed as the first runner-up, losing the top title to Dayana Mendoza of Venezuela. Throughout that event, she achieved high scores in the swimsuit and evening gown portions.
Acting and television work
Following her pageantry success, Taliana pursued a career in television acting. Her first leading role came in 2010 when she played Niña Cabrales in the RCN TV soap opera Chepe Fortuna. This role earned her a TVyNovelas Award for Favourite Actress in a Leading Role.
She later appeared as the main character in the soap opera Rafael Orozco El Idolo. The show focuses on the life of a Vallenato singer from Valledupar, and she portrayed the singer's wife. In 2017, she expanded her acting reach to international audiences by playing Paola Salcedo in the third season of the American Netflix series Narcos. In this role, she depicted the wife of a Cali Cartel security chief.
Personal life and family
Taliana married Alejandro Eder on August 15, 2015. Eder is a politician from Cali. The couple has two children together, named Alicia and Antonio.
She actively supported her husband during his political campaigns. When Eder was elected mayor of Cali in October 2023, Taliana assumed the role of the First Lady of Cali. Her official responsibilities include serving as a social manager for the local administration. Outside of her professional and public duties, she has worked as the face of various brands in Colombia, including Studio F, L'Oreal Paris Elvive, and Nestle.
