Early life and background
Tessica Brown was born on October 20, 1980, in Violet within St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana. Before gaining internet fame, Tessica managed a day care center called Tessica's Little Angels and also led a local dance team named the Dazzling Divaz.
Prior to the events that brought her widespread recognition, she balanced her professional responsibilities with raising her family as the mother of five children in her home state.
Rise to internet fame
In February 2021, Tessica shared a video on her social media platforms, including TikTok and Instagram under the username im_d_ollady, explaining that she had applied Gorilla Glue Spray Adhesive to her hair instead of her usual Got2b Glued Blasting Freeze spray. The product left her hair completely stuck to her scalp for a month.
The video quickly went viral and accumulated more than 24 million views on TikTok within a month. Her situation sparked intense public interest across social media, leading media outlets and internet users to refer to her widely as the Gorilla Glue Girl.
Medical procedure and support
Following her difficult experience, Gorilla Glue issued a public statement expressing sympathy for the incident. Shortly after, entertainment executive Gina Rodriguez contacted Tessica and connected her with Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Obeng.
Dr. Obeng performed a four-hour surgical procedure free of charge, utilizing a mixture of medical-grade adhesive remover, aloe vera, olive oil, and a small quantity of acetone to successfully clear the glue from her hair. Gina Rodriguez subsequently became her manager.
Business ventures and media appearances
In June 2021, Tessica introduced a haircare product line named Forever Hair, which included items such as hair growth oil and hair spray alongside merchandise featuring the slogan Bonded for Life. She later ventured into music by releasing her debut rap single titled Ma Hair in November 2021, which sampled her original viral video.
Her hair began growing back later that year, but an attempt to dye it in December 2021 caused the hair to fall out in clumps. By January 2023, she appeared as a contestant on the twenty-fifth season of Food Network's reality competition series Worst Cooks in America, which featured a Viral Sensations theme.
