Who is Tin Jedvaj?
Early life and background
Tin Jedvaj was born in Zagreb, Croatia. His family lived in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, before moving to the Croatian capital during the Bosnian War. His father, Zdenko, was also a professional football player.
Tin grew up in Zagreb and eventually joined the Dinamo Zagreb youth academy. This academy served as the starting point for his professional path in football.
Club career highlights
Tin Jedvaj began his professional career with Dinamo Zagreb in 2013. During his time there, he helped the team win the Croatian Prva HNL trophy and the Croatian Supercup. He made 14 official appearances for the club before moving to Italy.
In July 2013, he signed with the Italian club Roma. After his stint in Italy, he moved to Germany to join Bayer Leverkusen on loan in 2014. He later signed a permanent deal with the German side in 2015, staying until 2020. During his time at Leverkusen, he scored several important goals, including a winner against VfL Wolfsburg in 2016.
His career continued with a loan to FC Augsburg and a move to Lokomotiv Moscow in 2021. After a loan spell at Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates, he joined Panathinaikos in Greece. He eventually moved to the Saudi Pro League club Al Shabab in July 2026.
International career and achievements
Tin Jedvaj has represented the Croatia national team at many youth levels, including the under-17, under-18, and under-19 teams. He made his senior international debut for Croatia in September 2014 during a match against Cyprus in Pula. He has earned 26 caps for his country throughout his senior career.
A major highlight of his international career was being part of the Croatia squad during the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He played in the match against Iceland, and the team finished as runners-up to France. He also participated in UEFA Euro 2016, where he started a match against Spain. In the UEFA Nations League, he scored two goals against Spain in November 2018.
Personal life
In June 2022, Tin Jedvaj married Dina Dragija in Varaždin. Outside of his football career, he has made brief appearances in popular culture. For example, he appeared in a music video for the song Poziv by the rapper Cvija in May 2020.
