Early life and real name
Andre Rebelo was born in Toronto, Canada, on March 23, 1992. His brother, Billy, came up with the name for his YouTube channel. Before he began his career as a creator, Rebelo dropped out of college twice.
Rise to fame on YouTube
Typical Gamer launched his YouTube channel in August 2008. He uploaded his first video featuring the game Red Dead Redemption. He eventually grew his audience through content focused on Grand Theft Auto.
Typical is a professional Fortnite player who plays in competitive and weekly tournaments. He nearly qualified for the 2019 Fortnite World Cup. By April 2025, he was the first person on Fortnite Creative to hit 1 million followers.
Business ventures and Jogo Games
In May 2024, Typical Gamer and Chad Mustard founded a studio called Jogo Games. The company uses the Unreal Editor for Fortnite and Fortnite Creative to make games. They started this venture with a 2 million dollar commitment.
Jogo Games collaborated with the rapper XXXTentacion for a live concert in mid-2025. This event took place inside their Red vs. Blue game. In March 2026, the studio announced a game based on Grand Theft Auto VI.
In 2026, Jogo Games acquired the company RHQ Creative and its game catalog. This move supported the launch of their Pro division. That same year, they partnered with Epic Games to create a Star Wars title called Galactic Siege.
Partnerships and personal life
Typical Gamer signed an exclusive deal to stream on YouTube in 2020. He donated 10,000 dollars to the Extra Life charity to mark the occasion. In 2023, he started a brand partnership with Studio71.
In May 2026, the game Fortnite added cosmetics based on Typical to the store. He married Samara Redway in December 2024 and livestreamed the wedding. He and his wife live in Vancouver as of 2026.
