Early life and schooling
Born Yasmin Parvaneh in Oxford, England, she was the younger daughter of an Iranian father and an English mother. Her father worked as a photography instructor at a polytechnic institute, while her mother held a position as a window dresser for a local department store called Elliston's. During her formative years, she attended the Cherwell School located in her hometown of Oxford.
A modeling scout discovered her in Oxford when she was seventeen years old. She began taking on local modeling jobs while still finishing her education. After completing her schooling, she moved forward with her career by signing with the Models 1 Agency based in London.

In 2013, she served as a driver in the Mille Miglia race, an annual three-day event held in Italy that travels from Brescia to Rome and back. She acted as part of Team Jaguar, driving a vintage 1950 Jaguar XK120 with her co-driver David Gandy.
During the course of this race, a collision with another competitor caused visible damage to the side and wing of their vehicle. Despite this setback, the pair successfully re-entered the competition and finished in 158th place out of the 415 registered vehicles.
Marriage and family life
Yasmin met Simon Le Bon, the lead singer of the pop rock group Duran Duran, in 1984. The singer had noticed her picture on a magazine cover and initiated contact through her agent. The couple married on December 27, 1985, at a register office in Oxford.
They have children together, including their daughter Amber Le Bon. The family has maintained a private life while she continued her professional work in the fashion world.
