Early life and acting beginnings
Yasmine Bleeth was born in New York City on June 14, 1968. Her father, Philip, came from a Russian-Jewish and German-Jewish background, while her mother was from Algeria with French ancestry. Her earliest acting role came at just 10 months old when she appeared in a baby shampoo television commercial in 1969. At the age of six, she appeared on Candid Camera and later took part in a cosmetic advertising campaign with model Cristina Ferrare. This campaign caught the attention of fashion photographer Francesco Scavullo, who featured her and her mother in his book Scavullo Women.
Television career and rise to fame
Yasmine Bleeth achieved widespread recognition when she joined the cast of the popular television series Baywatch as Caroline Holden. Her role on the show brought her big international attention, and People magazine named her one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in 1995. FHM magazine also included her on their list of the 100 Sexiest Women in the World every year from 1996 to 2001. Capitalizing on her success with Baywatch, she was offered various other television and film roles. She appeared as a featured actress in five different series and made numerous guest appearances on other programs throughout her career.
Personal life and later projects
Yasmine Bleeth met her future husband, Paul Cerrito, in December 2000 when she voluntarily entered a rehabilitation clinic in Malibu. The couple fell in love immediately and got married in Santa Barbara, California, on August 25, 2002. They established their homes in Los Angeles and Scottsdale, Arizona, and they do not have children together. In late 2001, she faced legal trouble when she was arrested in Michigan after driving her car off the highway, and police discovered cocaine in her possession. She subsequently pleaded guilty to possessing cocaine and driving while impaired, receiving a sentence of probation and community service, which she successfully completed by January 2004.
