Who is Ayu Maulida?
Early life and real name
Ayu Maulida was born in Surabaya, Indonesia, on July 11, 1997. Her full name is Raden Roro Ayu Maulida Putri, and she grew up with a Javanese royal family tradition as the second child among three siblings. She began working as a fashion model at the age of 14, establishing her presence in the local modeling industry from a young age.
For her higher education, she attended Airlangga University in Surabaya, where she successfully completed a law degree in three and a half years. During her time at the university, she participated in the 24th Harvard Model United Nations Conference as part of an exchange program in Seoul, South Korea, in 2015.
Career highlights and pageantry
Before achieving major success in national pageants, Ayu took part in the Face of Indonesia 2019 event during Indonesia Fashion Week, where she won the Best Catwalk Female Model award. This victory allowed her to compete internationally at the Face of Asia 2019 contest in Seoul, South Korea, where she triumphed over 74 participants from 27 countries to win the highest grand prize title.
After finishing as the first runner-up in Puteri Indonesia East Java 2017, she returned to win the provincial title in 2020. This victory qualified her for the national Puteri Indonesia 2020 contest, where she won the main crown. During the competition, she also received special awards for Best in Traditional Costume and finished as the second runner-up for Best in Evening Gown.
Ambassador roles and charity work
During her reign as Puteri Indonesia, Ayu took on prominent public service roles in Indonesia. She was appointed as an Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly Ambassador by the Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly, Bambang Soesatyo. Also, the President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, selected her as the National Head of Communication for the Indonesian COVID-19 Response Acceleration Task Force.
Outside of her official government roles, she founded a non-governmental organization called Senyum Desa, which translates to Smiling Village. Working alongside Airlangga University alumni volunteers, the organization focuses on organizing charity work in remote Indonesian villages to improve infrastructure, education, healthcare, electricity, and internet access.
