Early life
Liam Hemsworth was born in Melbourne, Australia, to parents Leonie and Craig Hemsworth. He grew up alongside his two older brothers, Chris and Luke, who also pursued careers in acting. During his childhood, his family relocated to Phillip Island, where he spent a significant amount of time surfing with his brothers. Before starting his professional acting career, he worked laying floors for six months.
In high school, Liam began to follow his older brothers' footsteps by participating in school plays and eventually securing an agent. He attended his first audition at the age of sixteen. His early television work included guest appearances on Australian shows such as Home and Away and McLeod's Daughters.
Career beginnings
In 2007, Liam began filming episodes for the Australian soap opera Neighbours, playing the recurring character Josh Taylor through 2008. In 2012, Liam achieved global recognition after being cast as Gale Hawthorne in the film adaptation of The Hunger Games. He reprised this prominent role across three subsequent sequels, including The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2, concluding the series in 2015.
Beyond the dystopian franchise, Liam has starred in various other feature films. He portrayed the love interest of Kate Winslet in the Australian comedy drama The Dressmaker and appeared in Roland Emmerich's science fiction sequel Independence Day: Resurgence.
