Early life and education
Mireia Lalaguna Royo was born in Barcelona, Spain, on November 21, 1992. Growing up in her home country, she pursued higher education at the University of Barcelona.
During her time at the university, she successfully earned both her bachelor degree and her master degree in pharmacy. In addition to her academic pursuits in science, she developed strong language skills and became fluent in Catalan, Spanish, French, and English.
Early pageant career
Mireia Lalaguna Royo began her path in the pageant industry in 2014. She entered the Miss Atlántico Internacional 2014 competition as the representative for Spain.
At the conclusion of the event, she was declared the overall winner of the pageant. The outgoing titleholder, Lorena Romaso, placed the crown on her head.
Miss World Spain and Miss World
Mireia Lalaguna Royo competed at the third edition of Miss World Spain on October 24, 2015, held in Málaga. Representing her home city of Barcelona, she won the national title, being crowned by predecessor Lourdes Rodríguez.
Following her national victory, Mireia Lalaguna Royo traveled to Sanya, China, to compete in the international Miss World 2015 pageant on December 19, 2015. She advanced to the final five contestants and participated in the final question and answer segment.
At the end of the international event, Rolene Strauss crowned Mireia Lalaguna Royo as the winner of Miss World 2015. This historic victory marked the first time that a contestant from Spain won the Miss World competition since it started in 1951.
