Son Ye-jin was born on January 11, 1982, in Daegu, South Korea. She attended the Seoul Institute of the Arts to study film and acting. Her early career in the entertainment industry began with voice work and television drama roles, followed by her cinematic debut in Park Ki-hyung's film Secret Tears in 2000.
