Who is Veronika Didusenko?
Early life and education
Veronika Didusenko grew up in Kyiv, Ukraine, born to a family of private entrepreneurs. During her early years, she took part in sports clubs and practiced ballroom dancing. She attended a state school located in the Darnytskyi District of Kyiv, where she maintained straight-A grades.
In 2012, Veronika began attending the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv to study Mechanics and Mathematics. She defended her academic work on pulse systems for solving linear integro-differential equations and earned her Bachelor degree in 2016.
Modelling career
Veronika started her career in the modelling industry at the age of eighteen after being scouted by a neighbour who worked for a prominent agency in Ukraine. During her initial five years in the profession, she spent considerable time working in Paris, Milan, and London. She collaborated with major global brands including Maison Margiela, Escada, Pat McGrath, and John Galliano.
Represented by Women Management Paris, she has participated in Paris Fashion Week. Her portfolio also includes working alongside Women Management Milano for an Escada fashion show. Also, Veronika serves as the celebrity face for Zarina, which is one of the largest jewelry companies operating in Ukraine.
Miss Ukraine competition
In September 2018, Veronika won the Miss Ukraine pageant, which served as a preliminary stage for international competitions like Miss World, Miss Earth, and Miss International. Alongside her appearance and personality, judges were reportedly impressed by her charitable initiative called Young Einsteins Ukraine.
However, just hours after receiving the crown, the Organising Committee disqualified her because she was a divorcee and a mother to a son. The committee cited the rules of the Miss World organization, which state that titleholders must not be married or have children. This decision sparked widespread media coverage and turned Veronika into a global media celebrity.
Charity work and personal life
Veronika initiated and leads a charity project known as Young Einsteins Ukraine. The program aims to identify orphaned children who show exceptional aptitude for mathematics and natural sciences. It provides them with a specialized curriculum to develop their skills and prepare them for university entrance.
In her personal life, Veronika has a son named Alexander from her first marriage. She was pregnant with her baby when she was eighteen years old.
