Early life and background
Yukina Kinoshita was born in Katsushika, Tokyo, on December 4, 1987. During her youth, she attended Shibuya Liberal High School in Tokyo. She started her professional career in the entertainment industry as a fashion model when she reached the age of nineteen.
Her initial modelling assignment involved working as a lingerie model for the Sanai swimsuit image girl publication in 2007. Following this early success, she secured another prominent role as an image girl for Kygnus Sekiyu in 2008. Alongside these commercial assignments, she expanded her portfolio into gravure modelling.
Television and music career
Yukina Kinoshita achieved mainstream fame primarily as a television personality after appearing on the popular quiz show Quiz! Hexagon II. On the program, she became widely recognized as an o-baka tarento, a television persona known for a lack of academic knowledge. Her television exposure led to musical opportunities within the entertainment sphere.
She joined the musical group Pabo alongside Mai Satoda and Suzanne. Later, all three members joined with Shuchishin performers to form a larger musical collaboration named Aladdin. Beyond her musical projects, she appeared in numerous commercial advertisements for major brands such as Pizza Hut, Kirin Brewery Company, and GREE. Her face also graced the pages of prominent Japanese fashion magazines including Pinky and Vivi, and she worked as a regular cast member on Pokemon Sunday during 2007.
Retirement and return
Yukina Kinoshita announced her retirement from the Japanese entertainment industry in February 2020. However, she attempted to resume work-related activities shortly after at the start of July. On July 6, 2020, official announcements confirmed her complete and permanent retirement from the entertainment industry following a disagreement with her talent agency.
Despite her announced departure from the public eye, she made an unannounced return to the public sphere on September 1 of the same year by launching a brand new Instagram profile. She later announced a diagnosis of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder in July 2022.
Personal life and family
On August 28, 2010, Yukina Kinoshita married Japanese comedian Toshifumi Fujimoto, who was a member of the comedy duo Fujiwara and a co-star on Quiz! Hexagon II. The couple welcomed their first daughter on August 6, 2012, and subsequently welcomed their second daughter on November 3, 2015. The couple eventually announced their divorce on December 31, 2019.
In November 2019, she faced significant controversy after confronting a Tokyo tapioca milk tea shop over a payment dispute involving her younger sister. Critics accused her of using her celebrity influence to threaten the business. Later in her career, reports linked her to various personal relationships and media scrutiny regarding her private life.
