Who is Alaya F?
Early Life and Education
Alaya F was born Aalia Furniturewala in Los Angeles, United States, on November 28, 1997. Her mother is actress Pooja Bedi and her father is businessman Farhan Ebrahim Furniturewala. She has family connections to the entertainment world as the granddaughter of actor Kabir Bedi and dancer Protima Bedi. She possesses diverse ancestral roots, including Parsi and Gujarati Khoja on her father's side, and Punjabi, Haryanvi, British, and Bengali heritage from her mother's side.
She attended the Jamnabai Narsee School in Mumbai for her early education. Later, she studied at the New York Film Academy in Downtown Manhattan to develop her acting skills. Before her professional film debut, she appeared on the reality television program Maa Exchange alongside her mother in 2011.
Professional Acting Debut
Alaya F entered the professional acting scene in 2020 with the family comedy-drama Jawaani Jaaneman. Directed by Nitin Kakkar, the film featured her as a pregnant young woman searching for her father. Her performance earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. Critics responded positively to her acting, with many noting her natural ability in front of the camera and her confident screen presence. This debut project established her as a new talent in Hindi-language cinema.
Expanding Her Filmography
Following her debut, she appeared in the 2022 thriller titled Freddy. She played the antagonist, a woman in an abusive marriage seeking assistance from a dentist. She continued her career with the 2023 romance film Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat, where she acted opposite Karan Mehta. That same year, she starred in the thriller U-Turn, playing a news intern.
In 2024, she joined the cast of the action film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, working alongside Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff. She also appeared in the biopic Srikanth, portraying the girlfriend of the entrepreneur Srikanth Bolla. She is also slated to appear in an untitled Amazon Prime series featuring Hrithik Roshan.
